Guatr nedir?

Boyun ön kısımda bulunan tiroid (kalkan) bezinin iltihap ve kanser dışındaki bir sebeple büyümesine guatr denir.

Tiroid bezinin görevi nedir?

Tiroid bezi boynumuzun ön kısmında yerleşik, iki parçalı, küçük bir içsalgı bezidir. Salgıladığı hormon ile vücudumuzun çalışma hızını belirler. Ürettiği hormon azalırsa vücudumuzun çalışma hızı düşer, fazla hormon salgılarsa vücudumuzun çalışma hızı artar.

Guatr nasıl bir hastalıktır? ‘Ben guatr hastasıyım’ denilince ne anlamak gerekir?

Guatr tek bir hastalık değildir. Belirtileri ve tedavileri birbirinden farklı hastalıklar grubudur. Bu sebeple guatr hastasıyım demek, biz hekimler için yetersiz bir tanımlamadır. Tiroid bezinin iltihaplarını ve kanserlerini bir kenara bırakırsak, guatr hastalıklarını üç ana gruba ayırabiliriz. Bu gruplar da kendi içinde alt gruplara ayrılır. Bunlar:

• Tiroid bezinin az hormon salgıladığı durumlar; hipotiroidi hastalığı. Daha çok iç hastalıkları veya endokrinoloji uzmanlarının tedavi ettiği hastalıklardır. Bezin salgıladığı hormon yetersiz olduğu için vücudun hızı yavaşlar, hareketler ağırlaşır, duygular küntleşir. Bu hastalara gereken hormon ilaç şeklinde verilerek tedavi edilir.

• Hormon dengesizliği olmayan guatr hastaları. Bu grupta üç çeşit guatr bulunur. Birincisi tiroid bezinin dengeli şekilde tamamının büyüdüğü (diffüz guatr); ikincisi, tiroid bezinde tek bir yumrunun (nodül) olduğu (soliter tiroid nodülü) ve üçüncüsü tiroidde çok sayıda yumrunun olduğu (multinodüler guatr) hastalıklar.

• Tiroidin fazla hormon salgıladığı hastalıklar. Bu gruba zehirli guatr da denilir. Vücutta fazla tiroid hormonu bulunması sebebiyle vücudun çalışma hızı artmıştır. Ellerde titreme, kalp çarpıntısı görülür. Bu grupta da üç tip guatr vardır. Birincisi bezin tamamının büyüdüğü (Basedow Hastalığı), ikincisi fazla hormon salgılayan tek bir yumrunun olduğu (Toksik Adenom), üçüncüsü irili ufaklı çok sayıda yumrunun olduğu (Plummer Hastalığı) hastalıklar.

Hastalığın belirtileri nelerdir?

Yukarıda saydığımız hastalık çeşitlerine göre guatr hastasının şikayetleri de değişir. Hormonların fazla üretildiği (zehirli guatr) tiplerde, ellerde titreme-terleme, kalp çarpıntısı, sinirlilik, gözlerin yuvalarından taşması, ishal, iştah artması ama kilo alamama, adet düzensizlikleri görülür. Hormonların az üretildiği durumlarda ise hareketlerde ve duygularda yavaşlama, ellerde kuruma, saçlarda kuruma-dökülme, adet düzensizlikleri görülür. Hormonal dengesizliğin olmadığı tiplerde sadece tiroid bezinde büyüme veya nodül oluşumu. Bu hastalıkların hepsinde tiroid bezi büyüyebilir, nodül oluşabilir.

İç/dış guatr, dişi/erkek guatr, zehirli guatr nedir?

Tıbbi olarak böyle bir sınıflama olmamasına rağmen hastalara durumunu açıklarken kullanılan terimlerdir. Tiroid bezinin büyümediği, muayenesinin normal olduğu, sadece hormon dengesizliği olduğu durumda guatr hastalığı iç guatr olarak açıklanmış olabilir. Fazla hormon salgılayan guatr hastalığını “zehirli” guatr olarak adlandırıyoruz. Ameliyat sonrası nükseden guatr hastalığını açıklamak için de “dişi guatr” terimi kullanılmış. Yine de bu terimler tıbbi bir ayırımı ifade etmezler.

Guatr hastalıklarının iyot ile ilgisi nedir? İyot alsak hastalığı engeller miyiz?

Tiroid bezi İyot elementini kullanarak hormon üretir. Bu elementin eksik olduğu yerlerde guatr çok görülür. İyot eksikliğinin giderilmesiyle guatr hastalığı engellenir.

Guatr hastalığı olduğundan şüphelenen kişiye hangi testler yapılıyor?

Basitçe kandaki hormon miktarlarını kontrol etmek ve tiroid bezinin yapısını görmek için ultrason yaptırmak genellikle teşhiste yeterlidir. Bu iki testten sonra gerekli görülürse sintigrafi ve iğne biyopsisi gibi başka testler de yapılır.

Guatr hastalıkları teşhis edildikten sonra nasıl tedavi ediliyor?

Tedavide üç durum söz konusudur:
• Hormon yetersizliği olan guatr hastalarına bu hormon ilaç şeklinde verilir.
• Hormon fazlalığı olan hastalara hormon yapımını engelleyecek ilaçlar verilir. Hormon seviyesi normale inince ameliyat veya radyoaktif iyot ile nihaî tedavi yapılır.
• Hormon dengesizliği olmadığı ama tiroid bezinde nodüllerin olduğu durumda da genellikle ameliyat gerekir.

Her guatr hastalığı ameliyat gerektiriyor mu?

Tiroid bezinin tamamen büyüdüğü ya da içinde nodüllerin olduğu durumda ameliyat bir tedavi seçeneğidir. Her guatr hastalığı ameliyat gerektirmez.

Bir guatr hastasını ameliyat etmek için dört sebep vardır:
• Boynunda büyümüş guatrın oluşturduğu estetik problem
• Büyümüş guatrın ya da nodüllerin yemek borusunu ve soluk borusunu sıkıştırmalarından kaynaklanan şikâyetler olması
• Büyümüş guatrın hormon dengesizliği yapması
• Guatrda kanser tespit edilmesi veya kanser şüphesi

Guatr hastalığında kanser olur mu?

‘Guatr, tiroid bezinin kanser harici büyümeleridir’ diye tarif etmiştik. Ama bu büyümelerin kanser olup olmadığı ancak bazı incelemelerden hatta ameliyattan sonra belli olur. Dolayısıyla bütün guatrlı hastalar düşünüldüğünde %15 oranında kanser gelişme ihtimali vardır.

Ameliyattan başka tedavi yöntemleri var mı?

Her guatr ameliyat ile tedavi edilmez. Yukarıda saydığımız hastalıkların bazı tiplerinde ilaç tedavisi, bazısında radyoaktif iyot tedavisi (radyasyon ile tiroid bezinin tahrip edilmesi), bazısında da ameliyat gerekir.

Guatr ameliyatında ne yapılıyor?

Guatrın hastalıkları çeşitli olduğu gibi ameliyatları da çeşitlidir. Tiroid bezinin iki parçalı olduğunu belirtmiştik. Ameliyatta bu parçalardan biri tamamen çıkarılabilir, her iki parçası çıkarılabilir veya her iki parçasından bir miktar çıkarılabilir. Ne kadar tiroid bezi çıkarılacağı, yani bu ameliyat seçeneklerinden hangisinin uygulanacağı hastalığın çeşidine göre planlanır.

Ameliyatta ne gibi riskler var? Ses telleri zarar görebilir mi?

Guatr ameliyatları günümüzde oldukça güvenle yapılan ameliyatlardır. Her ameliyatta olduğu gibi guatr ameliyatında da istenmeyen durumlar olabilir. Bunların en başında da ses tellerinin zarar görmesi riski vardır. Ancak bu durum %3-5 (yüz guatr ameliyatından 3 ile 5’inde) oranında görülür. Ameliyat sahasında kanama ve paratiroid bezlerinin zarar görmesi (vücut kalsiyum dengesini ayarlayan bezlerin hasarı) diğer risklerdir.

Ameliyat veya ilaç tedavisi sonrası guatr tekrar eder mi?

Evet edebilir. Hormon eksikliği ilaçlarla giderildikten sonra hastalık tekrar edebilir. Bazen nodüller ilaçlarla geriledikten sonra tekrar büyüyebilirler. Bu durumda hasta tekrar değerlendirmeye ve tedaviye alınır.

Ameliyat edildikten sonra da guatr tekrar edebilir. Özellikle çok sayıda nodülü olan guatr hastalığında geride bırakılan tiroid dokusunda da nodül kalmışsa zamanla bu nodüller büyüyüp guatrın tekrar etmesine yol açabilir. Bu sebeple ilk başta ameliyatı, hastalığa uygun planlamak önemlidir.

Ameliyat olan hastaların kontrolleri var mı?

Hastalığının çeşidine göre ameliyat sonrası hiç ilaç kullanmadan ömür boyu yaşayabileceği gibi, ömrünün geri kalanında ilaç kullanmak zorunda olan hastalar da vardır. Ancak bütün guatr hastaları hastalıklarına bağlı olmak üzere belirli aralıklarla kontrol edilmelidirler ki hem hastalığın tekrarından korunsunlar hem de oluşabilecek istenmeyen durumlar erkenden tedavi edilebilsin.

The meteor display called the Orionids, from parent body Halley’s Comet, is expected to be clearly visible in the dark skies away from light pollution and urban lights early in the morning just before sunrise. If the display is like last year it should produce about 20 to 60 meteors per hour.

The meteor shower called Orionids is called such because the meteors originate out of the region of the sky north of the second brightest star, Betelgeuse, in the constellation Orion. The meteors should be seen between Betelgeuse and the planet Mars.

The meteors should be faintly seen above the eastern horizon before midnight, but the Moon in the western sky will erase all but the most brilliant of the meteors. Several hours after midnight will begin the best time to observe, with around 5:00 a.m. predicted to be the best time to see the most meteors—when Orion is high in the sky toward the southeast.

Halley’s Comet is thought to be the origin of these meteors—from dust ejected as it orbits the Sun. The meteors will cross the Earth’s atmosphere at about 40 miles (65 kilometers) per second.

The display should repeat itself in the early mornings of Sunday and Monday, October 21 and 22, 2007. They will begin to fade in brilliance and numbers over the following days.

Entebbe Arrivals Terminal Expansion

The Uganda aviation officials have revealed that the expansion of the arrivals lounge at Entebbe International Airport is will cost sh17.7b.

The expansion taking place is intended to enhance efficiency ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November.

“The baggage has more than doubled and it will reduce congestion especially at the time when we are expecting more visitors during CHOGM,” said Civil Aviation Authority’s public relations officer, Vianney Luggya.

Lugya was speaking at a cocktail party for SN Brussels Airlines to pre-inaugurate the new arrivals terminal. Pierre Declerk, the SN Brussels general manager of said they would start a fifth flight to Entebbe early next year.

Gellert Grindelwald is a dark wizard in the last Harry Potter book called “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” We recently just found out that Gellert Grindelwald was the love of Albus Dumbledore. J.K. Rowling in a Friday reading of her last book was asked a question, “Does Dumbledore ever find true love?” She proceed to say how Dumbledore is gay and that he was in love with Gellert Grindelwald. How crazy is this news to hear?


Gellert Grindelwald is talked about quite a bit in the last book. He meets Dumbledore when both wizards were around 17 years of age. Gellert Grindelwald came to stay with Bathilda Bagshot, who was next door neighbors with Dumbledore, after he was expelled from Durmstrang. During that time the two wizards became best friends. The two of them come up with a plan to make wizards known throughout the world and have them rule of the Muggles. I won’t give away the whole book so the rest of the details I will let you read in the book.

For all you Harry Potter fans out there, author J.K. Rowling made a huge reveal last night during a Q&A session at Carnegie Hall in NY with audience members, one of her fans asked if Hogwarts lonely ass Headmaster Albus Dumbledore finds true love. She tells them that Dumbledore is gay.

I don't read that trash so I don't know who that is, but I'm sure it has shocked you more than it shocked me. Apparently his true love was Gerrelt Grendelwalt but you know what he really he wants to do is eat that Potter ass. Wait, is that legal?

Singer Marc Anthony had the audience at his show Friday night in Los Angeles buzzing when he made a special dedication to his wife and fellow headliner, Jennifer Lopez.

Bee Movie star Jerry Seinfeld says that studying Scientology made him a better performer -- and not because it gave him some good material.

The 53-year-old comedian tells Parade magazine that a teacher in high school turned him onto the religion almost 30 years ago. "It was interesting. Believe it or not...it's extremely intellectual and clinical in its approach to problem-solving, which really appealed to me."

Though Seinfeld has not continued with Scientology, he tells Parade that it helped him get his start in comedy. "In my early years of stand-up, it was very helpful. I took a couple of courses. One of them was in communication, and I learned some things about communication that really got my act going."

Could the same be said for the rest of Scientology's Hollywood devotees? The Church counts musician Beck, John Travolta, and of course, Tom Cruise, among its members. Seinfeld explains that as an entertainer, Scientology "really helped me onstage to understand how you have to invade the space of the audience a little bit...Not too much, because then it's obnoxious. But you can't be short of them either, or you won't control them."

Just because Kim Kardashian is the cover girl for the December issue of Playboy doesn't mean that she’s a wild child. “I don’t even drink alcohol,” says Kardashian, star of the new E! reality series Keeping Up With The Kardashians (Sundays at 10:30 p.m.).

Regarding her Playboy shoot (an exclusive on-set outtake, left), Kardashian, who turns 27 on Sunday, tells Usmagazine.com that “it’s not a nude photo-shoot by any stretch.”

Kardashian talked to Us on the eve of her big Hollywood birthday bash at club Les Deux to talk about everything from her new show to why she and Paris Hilton are no longer BFFs.

Us: How revealing is your Playboy shoot?
Kim Kardashian: It is not as revealing as some people might want. I keep it classy and covered up. I do bare my whole butt. And a little bit of my chest. But that’s it. It was something that I was really nervous about doing at first and this is the first time I am talking about it. I consulted the whole family and I decided this is the way I would have wanted it to come out.

Us: What’s it like having cameras around you 24-7 while filming your reality show?
KK: I think we are used to it now. I am really excited because I feel like there are so many misconceptions of what us Hollywood girls are really like. We are so different from what people would think and I think everyone is going to be shocked.

Us: What are some of the misconceptions?
KK: Everyone thinks that I am this wild party girl and that I get drunk and dance on tables, but I don’t even drink alcohol. We [she and sisters Khloe and Kourtney] own businesses and we work every single day and we have 10 kids in the family and we did not grow up with nannies.

Us: Are you dating [NFL running back] Reggie Bush?
KK: We’re really close friends. He's such an amazing guy! But between me being busy with the new show, and his being in the middle of the football season, it’s not like I have time to dedicate myself to a relationship right now anyway.

KK: I love Paris. We grew up together, but friends drift apart and we just don’t hang out like we used to. Maybe someday we will again.

Hunter Tylo's Son Dies in Accidental Drowning

Soap star Hunter Tylo's oldest son, Michael Tylo Jr., died Wednesday night in Henderson, Nevada. Sarah Mildebrandt, Investigative Supervisor at the Clark County Coronor's office tells Usmagazine.com that "the cause of death was drowning due to seizure disorder," and that the "manner of death was accident."

On the topic of whether there will be a toxicology report, Mildebrandt says there will be no toxicology tests done on the body. "The doctor determined the final cause today," Mildebrandt says.

Hunter Tylo, 45, currently stars on CBS soap, The Bold and the Beautiful, but she might be best known for a role she was fired from. Tylo once won a reported $5 million dollars in a lawsuit after Aaron Spelling fired her from Melrose Place after she got pregnant.

Tylo's manager Marv Dauer tells the Associated Press of the actress, whose daughter Katya lost an eye due to cancer, "She's had one tragedy in her life after another, more than her share."

Proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that the American Idol process does discover talent, Carrie Underwood has gone on to an amazingly successful career. In addition to winning American Idol, Carrie Underwood’s list of achievements include two Grammys, two CMA awards, five Academy of Country Music awards, two People’s Choice awards, and an American Music award.


Carrie Underwood will soon be releasing her second album “Carnival Ride,” and this week’s Entertainment Weekly features the talented country singer on the cover. According to Entertainment Weekly, Carrie Underwood’s debut album “Some Hearts” has sold nearly 6 million copies and has passed Kelly Clarkson’s Breakaway to become the most successful record from any Idol contestant.

In Entertainment Weekly’s cover story article, Carrie Underwood reveals that she loves singing but hates being stared at, loves her family but can’t fathom following in their domesticated footsteps, and, most of all, loves country music and can’t understand why so much of that world has rejected her.

Carrie Underwood is quoted as saying, “I’ve learned this, that haters wanna hate. You could sing a song perfectly, you could write the songs perfectly, and some people are absolutely going to hate you. I heard, like, on live shows, people thought I was lip-synching. Which, I guess, hey, if they think it sounds that good that they think I’m lip-synching, I’ll take it. Whatever. I know there’s a certain point where I have to just be like, ‘Forget it, I don’t care.’ And I do care.”

In regards to dealing with fans and tabloids that are interested in her personal life. Carrie Underwood is quoted as saying, “I have problems going into a store like [Victoria’s Secret]. I’m a private person, and I don’t want people knowing what kind of underwear I like. It’s creepy! But these girls followed me the whole time, and I’m like, ‘Man, they see every single pair of underwear I’m putting in my little shopping bag!’ Just say something. Say hey, I’ll say hey, it’ll be good, and then we can both continue shopping.”

In regards to rumors about her dating Dallas Cowboy’s quarterback Tony Romo, Carrie Underwood is quoted as saying, “At one point it seemed like that’s where it was headed,” she says, “but point blank, he is about football. I don’t know if it’s that I’m not quite his type or whatever, but I don’t think he’s at the point in his life where he would be willing to sacrifice football. He hated so much that people thought that he was paying more attention to me and that was causing him to not do well.”

In regards to why the music industry may not be able to accept the amount of awards she has won so early in her career, Carrie Underwood is quoted as saying, “It’s just ‘cause I didn’t go about it the way a lot of people did. Every single person in the music industry knows if they had a chance like [Idol], they’d take it. And I’m sorry, anybody who says I took a shortcut, they are insane. We didn’t take the easy way; if anything we took a more difficult way. It was just unconventional, therefore it must be wrong.”
Elliott Yamin Named Global Ambassador Of The Inspired By Diabetes Creative Expression Competition

Elliott Yamin gained many fans as he sang his way into third place on American Idol 5. Today, Elliott is a rising star with Hickory Records and is using his fame to help raise diabetes awareness. As many fans of Elliott know, the singer was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 16 and has been very outspoken about his disease.

Elliott Yamin was recently named the Global Ambassador of the Inspired by Diabetes Creative Expression Competition. Elliott became an Ambassador to promote an increase in care of children with diabetes in developing nations and to show others like him, especially young children, that dreaming and doing big things is still possible.

Elliott Yamin said “A lot of young people with diabetes have said I’ve given them hope and made them believe in the power of music. They’ve told me how they’ve struggled and gone through difficult changes in their lives, and that seeing how I was able to achieve something through ‘Idol’ has inspired them to go for what they want. It’s amazing to me that I’ve played that role in someone’s life.”

The Inspired by Diabetes Creative Expression Competition is a global and national contest asking people with diabetes, as well as their family and friends, to express how diabetes has had an impact on their lives -- and share those stories with others around the world through art, essay, poetry, photography and music.

For each entry, global champion Eli Lilly and Company will donate funds to the International Diabetes Federation’s Life for a Child program, which provides life-saving diabetes supplies to more than 500 children in 13 developing countries. And for every entry received in the United States, Lilly will also contribute funds toward diabetes youth outreach initiatives in the U.S., through scholarships for American Diabetes Association camps.

Elliott will serve as a judge for entries from the U.S., and will donate a package of concert tickets and backstage passes to the U.S. grand prize winners. In addition to the Yamin concert tickets for U.S. winners, the U.S. and global winners will each receive a $5,000 USD contribution to charity and a trip to the U.S. or global Inspired by Diabetes art exhibition.

“I’m thrilled to be joining this important campaign to help children with diabetes around the world,” said Elliott Yamin. “Children in developing nations often lack the medicines, supplies, education and basic care they need to survive and thrive. Even here in the U.S., there are kids who want to attend a diabetes camp but can’t afford it. By participating in the Inspired by Diabetes contest and expressing how diabetes affects you, you can have a direct impact on a child’s life.”

Elliott Yamin is already serving as a special ambassador for ADA’s youth outreach initiatives, and will participate in the IDF-led events to celebrate the first United Nations-designated World Diabetes Day on November 14 in New York.

Fenerbahçe Kulübü, 100. yıl kutlama etkinlikleri kapsamında 24 Ekim Çarşamba akşamı Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadı'nda düzenlenecek Beyonce konseri için izleyicilere uyarılarda bulundu.

AA - Kulüpten yapılan açıklamada, saat 20.30'da başlayacak Beyonce konserine, fotoğraf makinesi, kamera, kaydedici cihazların getirilmesinin kesinlikle yasak olduğu bildirilerek, söz konusu cihazlarla konsere gelen izleyicilerin içeri alınmayacağı ifade edildi.

Fenerbahçe Kulübü'nden yapılan bir başka açıklamada ise bugün bir gazetede çıkan, yeterli bilet satılamaması halinde stat kapılarının açılarak biletsiz seyircilerin içeri alınacağı haberinin gerçekleri yansıtmadığı bildirildi.

Immunity push for telecom firms might not kill wiretap suits

The Bush administration's proposal to protect telecommunications companies from lawsuits for aiding the government's electronic surveillance program won't necessarily scuttle cases pending in San Francisco against the companies, a lawyer for AT&T customers said Friday.

A bill to extend the clandestine surveillance program for six years, and provide retroactive immunity to companies that shared telephone and e-mail messages and records with the government, cleared the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday with bipartisan support.

Legislation backed by House Democratic leaders would not shield the companies from suits, and Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., who opposes immunity, has promised to put a hold on the Senate bill when it reaches the floor. But even if the measure becomes law, current suits against telecommunications firms won't be dropped without a fight, said attorney Lee Tien of the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

For one thing, he said, plaintiffs' lawyers would argue that retroactive immunity in this case violates the constitutional separation of powers.

"When you've got pending lawsuits and suddenly pull the rug out from under them ... that's a major attack on the role of the judiciary," Tien said. Although federal courts have upheld some laws that were drafted to dismiss pending suits, he said, they haven't usually involved important personal rights or "the government concealing its misconduct."

In addition, he said, Congress has no power to grant immunity for constitutional violations. The lawsuits include claims that the companies colluded with the government to flout customers' constitutional rights by conducting searches of their electronic communications and records without search warrants.

The constitutional claims, if proved, would not entitle the customers to damages, only to court orders declaring the practices illegal and ordering them halted. By contrast, allegations in the suits that the companies violated federal statutes, which protect customer privacy, carry potentially huge damage awards for violations but can be nullified by an immunity law.

The AT&T suit, filed in San Francisco in February 2006, was the first of more than 40 surveillance-related suits across the nation against telecommunications companies. They followed President Bush's acknowledgment in December 2005 that the government had been monitoring calls between Americans and suspected foreign terrorists since late 2001 without court approval.

Media reports have also alleged that major telecommunications companies gave the government wholesale access to phone and e-mail traffic and records, allegations the companies have refused to discuss. Evidence in the AT&T case includes a declaration from a former company engineer that equipment in a company office in San Francisco allowed e-mails to be copied and rerouted to the government.

A judicial panel transferred all the suits to San Francisco, where a federal judge in July 2006 rejected arguments by the Bush administration and AT&T that the suit must be dismissed because it would reveal state secrets if allowed to proceed. Appeals by the government and the company were argued in August before the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.

Congress passed a law in late August authorizing the surveillance program through next February and protecting the companies from suits for future cooperation in the program. Bush has said he will veto any new law that does not contain retroactive immunity for the companies' past actions, arguing that the firms should not be punished for patriotic efforts to combat terrorism.

Even under previous laws, telecommunications companies have been protected from liability if they had written authorization from the Justice Department to turn over private customer information. But AT&T and the government have resisted production of any such documents in the current case, arguing that the existence or nonexistence of authorization is itself a state secret.

Under the proposed legislation, the company would be immune if the Justice Department, in a closed-door court proceeding, declared either that the company had not participated in a surveillance program, or that any participation was part of a presidentially authorized intelligence activity designed to prevent a terrorist attack. Plaintiffs' lawyers would not have access to the declaration and would not be allowed to contest it.

Tien, of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, called the immunity provision a "blank check" and added, "It's not good for privacy, and it's not good for democratic government."

Hitchcock's follow-up to PSYCHO (1960) was yet another ground-breaking addition to the horror genre and further revealed the master director's darker obsessions.
Loosely based on a Daphne du Maurier short story, the action is set in Bodega Bay and follows bored, spoiled socialite Melanie Daniels (Hedren) as she romantically pursues dashing lawyer Mitch Brenner (Taylor). Tension soon develops among Melanie, schoolteacher Annie Hayworth, Mitch's former flame (Pleshette), and Mitch's domineering mother (Tandy). The emotional interplay is interrupted (and reflected) by the sudden and unexplained attack of thousands of birds on the area.

Hailed as one of Hitchcock's masterpieces by some and despised by others, THE BIRDS is certainly among the director's more complex and fascinating works. Volumes have been written about the film, with each writer picking it apart scene by scene in order to prove his or her particular critical theory--mostly of the psychoanalytic variety. Be that as it may, even those who grow impatient with the slow build-up or occasional dramatic lapses cannot deny the terrifying power of many of the film's haunting images: the bird point-of-view shot of Bodega Bay, the birds slowly gathering on the playground monkey bars, the attack on the children's birthday party, Melanie trapped in the attic, and the final ambiguous shot of the defeated humans leaving Bodega Bay while the thousands of triumphant birds gathered on the ground watch them go.

Galatasaray Kulübü'nün kuruluşunun 102. yılı, bir dizi etkinlikle kutlandı. Galatasaray Lisesi'nde gerçekleştirilen programa, kulüp yönetim kurulu üyeleri ve kulüp üyeleri ile çeşitli branşlardan çok sayıda sarı-kırmızılı sporcu katıldı.

AA-Geçirdiği pankreas ameliyatı sonrası dinlenen Galatasaray Kulübü Başkanı Özhan Canaydın'ın yer alamadığı kutlamalara, kulüp ikinci başkanı Semih Haznedaroğlu ve Divan Kurulu Başkanı İrfan Aktar'ın başında bulunduğu grubun Atatürk anıtına çelenk koymasıyla başlandı.
Daha sonra Tevfik Fikret Salonu'na geçilirken, açılış konuşmasını yapan ikinci başkan Semih Haznedaroğlu, kulübün 102. yılını kutluyor olmaktan dolayı yaşadıkları mutluluğu dile getirerek, "Kulübümüz her zaman hedefini yüksek tutmuştur ve büyük başarılar elde etmiştir. Bizden sonra göreve gelecek yönetici arkadaşlarımız da yine aynı şekilde devam edeceklerdir. Önümüzün açık olduğunu görüyoruz" dedi.
Özellikle yeni Ali Sami Yen Stadı'nın yapılacağı Seyrantepe Projesi'ne de değinen Haznedaroğlu, başkan Özhan Canaydın ve bir çok yöneticinin bu proje için büyük çaba sarf ettiğini kaydederek, "Bu projeye büyük emek harcayanlar içinde ben yokum ama bir çok yönetici arkadaşım var. Kimi zaman çok sevindiler, kimi zaman çok üzüldüler. Çünkü kulübümüzün seveni kadar muhalifi de var. Ama şimdi önünde bu projenin bir engel kalmadı ve projeyi gerçekleştirmek de yine bir Galatasaraylı kardeşimize düştü" ifadelerini kullandı.
102. yıl plaketini Ali Tanrıyar çaktı
Program çerçevesinde en yaşlı üyenin üstlendiği yaş kütüğüne 102. yıl plaketinin çakılması görevini, eski başkanlardan Ali Tanrıyar yaptı.
Yaş kütüğüne plaketi çakmadan önce kısa bir konuşma yapan Tanrıyar, duygusal anlar yaşarken, hayatının Galatasaray Kulübü'nde geçirdiğini ve başkanlığı döneminde de önemli başarılar kazandığını kaydetti.
Ayrıca, kulüp üyeliğinde 50. yılını dolduranlara da berat ile madalyaları verildi.
istanbul istinye park açıldı

Orjin Grup ve Doğuş Grubu ortaklığıyla yaptırılan İstinyePark, halka açıldı.

Alışveriş merkezinin açılması dolayısıyla düzenlenen basın tanıtımında konuşan İstinyePark Genel Müdürü Hakan Kurt, merkezin inşaatının 2005 yılı Temmuz ayında başladığını ve 27 aylık çalışma sonucunda bugünkü noktaya getirildiğini söyledi.


İstinyePark'ın Amerikalı bir mimar grubu tarafından yapıldığını ifade eden Kurt, “Burası mimarisiyle, alışveriş caddesi ve nostaljik klasik pazar yeri ile diğer alışveriş merkezlerinden çok farklı” dedi.

Merkezin içinde 87 bin metre kare mağaza alanı olmak üzere toplam 270 bin metre karelik bir alana yayıldığını anlatan Kurt, buranın spor, rekreasyon ve eğlence alanlarıyla bir yaşam merkezi olarak tasarlandığını kaydetti.
Kurt, İstinyePark'ın içinde çok farklı alanlar bulunduğunu da belirterek, “Bulvar” olarak nitelendirilen bölümde yerli ve yabancı markaların yer aldığını anlattı.



Bir şehir meydanı formunda tasarlanan alışveriş caddesinin ise merkezin en üst katında yer aldığını ve açık alana kurulduğunu dile getiren Kurt, insanların bu caddeye Nişantaşı'nda, Bağdat Caddesi'nde olduğu gibi araçlarını park ederek alışverişlerini yapabileceklerini söyledi.



Kurt, bu caddede Milano ve Paris'te bile bulunmayan birçok ünlü markanın mağazalarının yer aldığını da vurguladı.



NOSTALJİK PAZAR DA VAR

Nostaljik pazar yerinde de kasap, manav, bakkal, baharatçı, fırın, şarküteri hepsinin ayrı ayrı tasarlandığını ve bunların oluşturulan eski Türk-Osmanlı evlerinden satış yapacaklarını anlatan Kurt, böylece vatandaşların esnafla birebir alışveriş etme keyfini yaşayacaklarını kaydetti.

Kurt, bu nostaljik pazarın bir Beşiktaş Pazarı, Kadıköy Çarşısı ve Beyoğlu Balık Pazarı konseptinde tasarlandığını söyledi.



Kurt, “Yani mahalle bakkalı, mahalle kasabını alışveriş merkezine soktuk. O eski nostaljik alışverişi tekrar hayata geçirmeyi hedefledik” diye konuştu.

Hakan Kurt, 3 bin araçlık otoparkı bulunan merkezde aynı zamanda bir kültür sanat müzesi ve araba müzesinin de oluşturulacağını anlattı.

Merkezde bir tanesi 3 boyutlu olmak üzere 12 salonun yer aldığı bir sinema kompleksinin de bulunduğunu belirten Kurt, bu salonların zaman zaman başka kültürel etkinlikler için de kullanılabileceğini dile getirdi.
Kurt, İstinyePark'ta yerli ve yabancı markaların yer aldığı 300'e yakın mağaza, 40'a yakın kafe ve restoran bulunduğunu söyledi.



Güvenlik konusuna da büyük önem verdiklerini belirten Kurt, hem inşaat aşamasında iş güvenliği, hem de alışveriş merkezi içinde güvenlik konularına azami önem verildiğini dile getirdi.

Kurt, özellikle çocukların bir kaza yaşamaması için binanın her yerinde risk analizlerinin yapıldığını ve bunların giderildiğini anlattı.

Kurt, İstinyePark'a yılda 20 milyon insanın gelmesini hedeflediklerini belirterek, hafta içi de yaklaşık 40 bin, hafta sonları da 80 bin kişinin ziyaret etmesini beklediklerini kaydetti.

Hakan Kurt, İstinyePark'a ulaşımında kolaylık sağlanması için de İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi tarafından yaptırılmakta olan 3 kavşak ve TEM-Levent bağlantı yolunu finanse ettikerini ve bu işler için de 25 milyon dolar ayırdıklarını vurguladı.

Bu arada İstinyePark'ın resmi açılışının, Ekim ayının son haftasında Başbakan Recep Tayyip Erdoğan tarafından yapılacağı bildirildi

Türk seçmeni, cumhurbaşkanının halk tarafından seçilmesini de öngören anayasa değişikliği paketinin halkoyuna sunulmasıyla yarın halk oylaması için sandık başına gidecek.Halk oylamasında, 42 milyon 629 bin 733 seçmen, 134 bin 700 sandıkta oy kullanacak.

Vatandaşlar, seçmen bilgi kağıtları ve geçerli kimlik belgeleriyle oyunu verecek. Seçmen bilgi kağıdı gelmeyen vatandaşlar da oy kullanabilecek. Seçmen bilgi kağıdı bulunmayıp kütüğe kayıtlı olanlar, ibraz edecekleri kimlik belgeleriyle (nüfus kağıdı, resmi daireler veya iktisadi devlet teşekküllerince verilen soğuk damgalı kimlik kartı, pasaport, ehliyet, evlenme cüzdanı) oy verebilecekler.
